ROG Strix G15/G16, ROG Zephyrus G14/G16, TUF A15/F15/A17 share a dual-fan + heat-pipe array. Asus applies liquid metal (a high-conductivity thermal compound — thinner and more effective than standard paste, but it migrates if the laptop is dropped) on factory ROG units. After 12–18 months of gaming sessions, dust accumulation and dried compound push the GPU die temperature up 20–30°C, triggering thermal throttle (the chip cuts its clock speed to stay within safe temperature limits) — users notice sudden FPS drops mid-game even though nothing changed in settings.
Our service process: strip the heatsink → clean contact surfaces with isopropyl alcohol → reapply liquid metal (ROG models) or Arctic MX-4 (TUF and VivoBook) → inspect fan blades and bearings → replace the fan if RPM drops below spec under load. The TUF A15/F15 also develops solder fatigue on the side DC barrel jack from gaming-cable strain; we resolder the joint or replace the DC-in board.

First: VivoBook 15/16 hinge brackets crack at the LCD-side mount — the plastic bezel pulls away from the chassis and the lid wobbles. We replace the full hinge bracket assembly and reseat the bezel. Second: ZenBook Pro Duo ScreenPad (the secondary OLED display below the main panel) fails at the touch controller — the flex cable between the touch IC and the board develops micro-fractures, producing erratic or no touch response. Third: ZenBook UX-series USB-C charging port loosens after repeated cable insertions, causing intermittent or no charging.
