 Required packaging standards

Minimum packaging specifications for courier shipment

These are the minimum packaging requirements for accepting a courier-shipped device at our Secunderabad workshop. Shipments arriving with visible damage or evidence of non-compliance are photographed on opening and reported to the originating courier for insurance purposes. We do not accept liability for damage to inadequately packed shipments.

Use the original box, or a rigid cardboard box 5 cm larger on every side.A loose 7-ply corrugated box collapses under stacking weight. If you have the OEM box, use it with extra padding inside.

Bubble wrap the laptop in two layers minimum.First a snug single-bubble layer around the closed lid, then a second double-bubble layer over the first. Tape each layer (gently).

Foam padding in all four corners, top, and bottom.Zero movement inside the box. Shake the sealed box near your ear, you should not hear the laptop shift even a little.

Battery charge below 30 percent.Civil aviation and surface-courier rules for lithium-ion devices. Some couriers reject above 30 percent for air freight legs.

Power cord wrapped separately and taped to the inside of the box.Loose chargers smash screens. Bubble-wrap the brick and tape the package to the inside top of the box, away from the laptop.

Tape the box, do not staple. Never tape over the device cover.Use 2-inch packing tape across every seam. Staples puncture cushioning. Tape across the device cover damages paint or the lid.

Fragile stickers on all six sides of the box.Couriers stack boxes randomly. A fragile sticker on every face increases the chance the box ends up on top of the pile.

Insure your shipment.DTDC, Bluedart, Delhivery, and India Post Speed Post all offer transit insurance. Declare the laptop value honestly. Pay the 0.3 to 0.6 percent premium.

Take four-angle photos of the device and the sealed box BEFORE handover.Device: lid open, lid closed, base, port side. Box: from the top showing the sealed tape, with the AWB sticker visible. These photos are insurance-claim evidence.

Eight things to do on the laptop itself

Five minutes of prep here saves you back-and-forth on WhatsApp once we receive the device, and protects your data.

Back up your data to an external drive or cloud.We are not liable for data loss during repair. Most repairs do not touch the storage, but board-level work and Windows reinstalls can. Back up first.

Remove BitLocker or FileVault encryption, or share the recovery key.If we cannot get past the disk encryption, we can only run hardware-only diagnostics. Share the recovery key on WhatsApp if you want full-operating-system testing.

Note Windows or macOS login, BIOS, and key app passwords.Required if you want us to boot all the way into the desktop and run app-level diagnostics. Send on WhatsApp only after we share the booking ID.

Remove SIM card, SD card, USB drives, external accessories.Anything that is not bolted in. Couriers misplace small accessories more often than the laptop itself.

Save the IMEI or serial number screenshot to your phone.On Windows: System Information. On macOS: About This Mac. We cross-check this with the device we receive to confirm a chain-of-custody match.

Do NOT ship the original OEM charger.Unless the fault is charging-related. Chargers damage screens in transit, and we have OEM-equivalent chargers on the bench for diagnosis.

Print and include the WhatsApp diagnosis and fixed-quote summary.One A4 page slipped inside the box (in a plastic sleeve, not loose). Helps our receiving team match the device to the booking ID in seconds.

Recommended couriers

Four couriers that handle laptops well, with ETAs

All four offer transit insurance. Pick by ETA, your city PIN coverage, and how much insurance you want declared.

DTDC 2 to 4 days

Value-for-money insurance, broad PIN coverage across India. Their DTDC Plus tier adds signature-on-delivery and faster claim handling. A good default if you want decent speed without paying premium pricing.

Bluedart 2 to 3 days

Premium tier, real-time tracking, highest insurance ceiling. Our default for declared values above ₹50,000 or for fragile MacBook Pro models. Costs roughly 30 to 50 percent more than DTDC but worth it for high-value devices.

Delhivery 2 to 4 days

Strong PIN coverage in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Good for smaller towns where DTDC or Bluedart routes are slower. Insurance is available at checkout, declare the laptop value honestly.

Government insurance up to ₹50,000 included. Cheapest option, available from every post office. ETAs are slower and tracking updates can lag, but reliability for the price is strong.

No surprises, no extra-cost add-ons mid-repair. You see the quote upfront. We do not start chargeable work until you approve.

  1. Unboxing confirmation on WhatsApp. Photos of the device condition and the box, within working hours of receipt.
  2. 24 to 48 hour diagnosis window. Senior board-level technicians run a full hardware sweep, log every issue, and assemble a parts list.
  3. Fixed quote on WhatsApp. Parts (at actual cost) plus labour, in writing, before any chargeable work begins. No verbal estimates that change later.
  4. 1 to 7 working day repair time. Same day if the parts are on the bench (chargers, RAM, SSDs, common batteries). 1 to 7 days if we have to order specific screens, keyboards, or motherboards.
  5. 30-day warranty on the repair. Same warranty we give walk-in customers. If the same fault recurs in 30 days, we fix it free (you only cover the return courier).
  6. Pay via UPI, bank transfer, or Razorpay link. Tax invoice issued post-payment.
  7. Free return courier for repairs above ₹3,000. We ship via Bluedart or DTDC (our choice based on declared value).
  8. Return courier ₹149 to ₹499 for sub-₹3,000 repairs, depending on the city and courier. Charged at actual.

Four things we do NOT accept by courier

Sending these wastes your courier cost. WhatsApp first, and our triage will save you the trip if your device falls into any of these.

Water-damaged devices more than 7 days post-spill

Corrosion past 7 to 10 days usually eats through the motherboard tracks beyond clean repair. The triage will tell you upfront if your device is recoverable, so you do not pay courier costs for a do-not-repair conclusion.

In-warranty devices for repairs the brand handles free

If your laptop is still under manufacturer warranty and the fault is covered, take it to the brand-authorised service centre. We do not undercut the warranty option. We will tell you so on WhatsApp during triage.

Imported or international laptops without customs paperwork

Devices brought in from abroad without IEC, customs invoice, or import duty receipts carry legal risk for the receiving workshop. We cannot accept these by courier. Walk-ins with paperwork are fine.

Devices uneconomical to repair

If the WhatsApp triage shows the motherboard is a write-off on a laptop of low resale value, the honest answer is to put the money toward a replacement. We will tell you so before you spend on courier and diagnosis.
