Checking status… Hyderabad doorstep laptop repair

Hard disk clicking, slow boot, or laptop won’t detect the drive?

Recovery starts at ₹1,500 · No Recovery — No Fee on standard cases

Hard drive failures hit at the worst time — middle of a deadline, in a monsoon, when you haven’t backed up in weeks. We diagnose the failure mode first (clicking spindle, dead controller IC, bad sectors, SMART thresholds, firmware corruption), pull your data out before anything else, then replace with a faster SSD if the drive is past repair. Doorstep across Hyderabad. ₹149 visit. 30-day warranty. No Fix — No Fee.

Hard disk failure symptoms we diagnose every week

Match the symptom — we’ll quote on the spot.

Clicking, beeping, or grinding noises

The classic failing HDD sound — head crash or motor failure. Stop using the drive immediately — every minute on can destroy more data. Doorstep pickup, data extraction first.

Blue Screen with IRQL or KERNEL errors

BSODs with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL on boot — usually a failing SSD controller or bad NAND blocks. We diagnose with bench tools, recover data, then replace.

Drive not detected in BIOS

SATA / NVMe slot shows empty in BIOS. Could be cable, controller, or dead drive. Bench-test isolates which — ₹500–₹1,500 if just the cable, ₹3,500–₹12,000 if drive replacement.

Painfully slow boot & load

3+ minute boots, applications freeze opening files, Task Manager shows 100% disk usage. Almost always a failing HDD with bad sectors or an SSD past write limits. SMART scan confirms.

SMART warning at boot

BIOS or Windows pops a SMART warning — pre-failure indicator. Drive may run for days or fail in hours. Back up now or call us today.

Drive failed after liquid / drop

Water on the laptop or a drop killed the drive. Liquid-damaged drives need 24–48 hr controlled drying before recovery attempts. Doorstep pickup, free initial diagnosis.

Endless boot loop / repair screen

“Preparing automatic repair” loop, “Reset your PC” screen, or stuck at BIOS logo. Often a corrupted boot sector on a failing drive. We image first, then attempt repair.

Files disappearing / corrupted

Photos suddenly thumb as broken, Word docs say “file is corrupted”, partitions vanish. Bad sectors are eating the file system. Bit-by-bit image first, then file system rebuild.

What’s really happening inside

Three failure tiers, three very different fix paths

Data recovery isn’t one technique — it’s a layered escalation depending on what failed. The cheapest layer is logical recovery: the drive itself is healthy, but the file system or operating system is corrupted, files are deleted, the drive was formatted, or the laptop’s motherboard stopped working with the drive intact. We connect the drive to a USB enclosure, read it through a software tool that bypasses the corrupted file system, and pull your files. Most recoveries we do are at this layer — ₹1,500–₹3,500, 24–48 hour turnaround, very high success rate.

The middle layer is controller-level recovery, mostly for SSDs. Modern SSDs (SATA, NVMe, M.2) have a controller chip that translates between the operating system’s file requests and the underlying NAND flash chips. When the controller fails, the OS can’t see the drive at all — it appears as “not detected.” The NAND chips themselves still hold your data. We de-solder the NAND chips and read them directly on a specialised reader (a NAND programmer), bypass the failed controller, and reconstruct the file system algorithmically. Success rate ~70% for SATA SSDs, slightly lower for newer NVMe with proprietary controller firmware. ₹6,000–₹15,000.

The single biggest mistake after data loss is “trying things” on the affected drive — running CHKDSK, reformatting, downloading recovery software onto the same drive. Every write reduces recovery probability. Power off, set the drive aside, and call us.

The deepest layer is mechanical recovery, for HDDs that have suffered physical failure. Hard disk drives spin platters at 5,400–7,200 RPM with the read/write head floating nanometres above the platter surface. When the head crashes (clicking sound), the bearings fail (grinding), or the spindle motor seizes, the drive needs to be opened in a Class 100 clean-room — a particle-controlled environment where air-borne dust is kept below 100 particles per cubic foot. We partner with a clean-room facility for these cases. Recovery techniques include head replacement, platter transplant to a donor drive, and PCB swap. ₹10,000–₹35,000 depending on the severity. Success rate ~60–80%.

Encrypted drives are a special category. BitLocker (Windows), FileVault (macOS), and modern Apple silicon’s file-system-level encryption are designed by intent to be unrecoverable without the encryption key. We can extract the encrypted blob from a failed drive, but decrypting it requires either the password or a recovery key. If you have a Microsoft account linked to BitLocker, the recovery key is usually backed up to your account — we’ll guide you through retrieving it. Apple silicon Macs with FileVault similarly tie the key to your iCloud account. Without the key, the data is mathematically inaccessible — no service can break modern encryption.

~95%Success rate on logical recovery from healthy drives
~70%Success rate on chip-level SSD NAND read
~60-80%Success rate on mechanical HDD clean-room work

What you do in the first hour matters. Stop using the drive. Don’t reboot the laptop repeatedly. Don’t install recovery software on the affected drive (it can over-write the very sectors you’re trying to recover). Don’t open the drive yourself. WhatsApp us with the symptom and the laptop / drive model, and we’ll quote the right tier of recovery before any chargeable work begins.

Hard disk failure — FAQ

What customers ask after data loss, before bringing the drive to us.

Related services

Related repairs we often pair with hard disk replacement

Data recovery is rarely a standalone job — once your files are safe, these are the services customers most often need to get the laptop fully working again.

SSD / HDD Upgrade

After recovering data from a failing drive, upgrading to a fresh NVMe SSD (solid-state drive) is the natural next step — we migrate your files across.

Liquid Damage Repair

If a spill caused the drive failure, liquid damage treatment of the board is needed to stop corrosion destroying other components after recovery.

Physical Damage Repair

If a drop caused the drive to fail, we address the chassis, screen, and hinge damage once your data is safely recovered.

Motherboard Repair

When a board-level fault has corrupted the storage controller, motherboard repair and data recovery are handled as a combined diagnostic job.

No Display Repair

If the laptop powers on but shows nothing, we recover data from the drive first and then diagnose the display or GPU fault separately.

OS Installation

Once your files are recovered, a clean Windows or macOS reinstall on the new drive removes any corrupt system files that triggered the original failure.

Workstation Service & Build

For RAID-5/RAID-10 workstation recovery, GPU repair, ECC memory upgrades, or custom render-rig builds — full-service workstation support from the same engineers.
