Dead touch, ghost taps, dead zones, cracked digitizer glass, or stylus pen not working — we diagnose the exact fault across all 2-in-1 and touch laptop models and quote the correct fix before touching a screw. HP x360, Lenovo Yoga, Dell XPS touch, Asus ZenBook Flip, Acer Spin, Microsoft Surface, Samsung Galaxy Book Flex — covered. ₹149 visit charge · · No Fix No Fee.
Nine common touch screen faults we handle every week. Every one has a defined fix path — nothing here is undiagnosable.
Tapping the screen does nothing. Display works fine visually. Cause: failed digitizer (the touch-sensing layer above the display), damaged ribbon cable, or — very commonly — a Windows driver issue that can be fixed free.
Cursor jumps, windows open randomly, keyboard appears without being summoned. Usually a cracked digitizer layer underneath intact glass, or a moisture-damaged touch ribbon cable. Not a software issue in most cases.
Single finger tap registers, but pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scroll, or three-finger swipe gestures fail. Indicates partial digitizer failure or an active digitizer controller fault on the board.
The outermost glass is cracked but the display underneath still shows a clean image. On select older models (non-bonded panels), a glass-only replacement is possible without replacing the full display. We confirm at diagnosis.
Impact crack reached the LCD or OLED layer — black blooms, dead zones, or ink-like spread visible. Full touch+display assembly replacement required. OEM assembly sourced for your specific model.
Certain corners or strips of the screen don’t register touch. Partial digitizer failure, often from a corner impact or long-term pressure damage. The working zones cannot compensate for dead areas — digitizer replacement required.
The laptop’s active stylus (Surface Pen, HP Tilt Pen, Lenovo Precision Pen) stopped responding or lost pressure sensitivity. Could be the pen battery, but if the pen is fine on another device, the active digitizer hardware layer has failed.
A Windows or driver update overwrote or corrupted the HID touch driver. This is a free fix — we reinstall or roll back the correct driver without replacing any hardware. Confirmed at the ₹149 visit before any chargeable work is quoted.
Display flickers in sync with touch input, or both the image and touch intermittently drop out. Often the display flex cable (which carries both touch signal and video signal on thin 2-in-1 models) has been stressed in the hinge fold.
Touch screen and touchpad are often confused, but they are completely separate components. The touchpad is the pressure-sensitive rectangle on the palm rest below the keyboard. The touch screen is the display panel itself responding to finger contact — a transparent digitizer layer bonded on top of the glass. Most laptops do not have a touch screen; only convertible 2-in-1 models (those that fold flat or rotate 360 degrees) and a small number of standard laptops from HP, Dell, and Lenovo carry one.
On a modern touch laptop, the screen is a sandwich of at least three distinct assemblies: the LCD or OLED display panel at the back, which generates the image; an ITO digitizer layer (Indium Tin Oxide, a transparent conductive grid) laminated on top of the panel, which maps X-Y touch coordinates; and a protective cover glass over the digitizer. These three are factory-bonded under heat and optically clear adhesive (OCA). When any layer fails, the correct repair depends on which layer is affected — and that can only be established through testing, not from the symptoms alone.
The most under-appreciated failure mode is the cracked-but-invisible digitizer. The cover glass can survive an impact intact while the digitizer layer beneath fractures from the pressure wave. Electrically, a cracked digitizer creates parasitic contact points — ghost touch events triggered by the shorted grid lines. The customer sees a screen that looks fine but taps randomly. The diagnosis test is straightforward: we disable the HID touch device in Device Manager and check whether the ghost events stop. If they do, the cause is hardware (digitizer), not software.
For Microsoft Surface devices, the repair is technically distinct from standard laptops. Surface Pro uses a full bonded display module — the glass, digitizer, and display are laminated into a single unit with proprietary structural adhesive and sealed around the edges. Accessing this assembly requires heat guns, vacuum suction, plastic spudgers, and patience — forcing it with metal tools destroys the frame. After disassembly, the new assembly must be re-adhered correctly or the edges lift over time, allowing moisture ingress. We treat Surface repairs as specialist jobs and quote them separately from standard laptop touch screen work.
The Asus ZenBook Pro Duo and Duo 14 add a secondary touch screen (ScreenPad Plus) below the main display. Both screens share a single display cable that routes through the hinge. A fault on either touchscreen, or flicker affecting both, often traces back to this shared cable — a ₹1,200–₹2,500 fix that avoids replacing a panel priced at ₹15,000+. We check the cable before the panel in every dual-screen case.
One thing we do not do: replace a touch assembly on a model where the driver is the actual fault. We test software first, every time. If the touchscreen works after a driver reinstall, we walk away having charged only the ₹149 visit fee. That is how this should work — and why customers come back when they do have hardware faults.

What customers ask before booking a doorstep touch screen diagnosis in Hyderabad.
Touch screen issues often travel with related hardware faults. These are the services most commonly booked alongside touch screen repair.
Impact crack, black blooms, dead pixel zones, or shattered panel. OEM display replacement for all brands at your doorstep.
Touchpad (the palm rest trackpad) not clicking, not moving, or erratic cursor. Separate component from the touch screen — dedicated repair page.
Broken or seized hinge on 2-in-1 models. A faulty hinge stresses the display cable and can cause both display and touch flickering if ignored.
Webcam not detected or showing black screen. On 2-in-1 models, the camera cable runs alongside the display cable through the hinge — a common combined fault.
Keys not registering, keys repeating, or spill damage on keyboard. Often combined with touch screen issues on convertible 2-in-1 models after a drop.
