Diagnosed at your doorstep · 60-90 min
Random shutdowns are almost always one of three causes: thermal protection (overheating), power-section fault (battery / charger / IC), or motherboard component degradation. We diagnose all three at your doorstep with thermal monitoring + voltage probing — the symptom alone tells us a lot. ₹999 onwards ·
Eight common patterns we see weekly.
Thermal shutdown — CPU/GPU hits ceiling, system protects itself.
Not thermal — usually power-section fault or capacitor degradation.
Battery fuel-gauge IC out of calibration, or cells degraded.
Boot loop — voltage regulator failing, RAM controller, or BIOS issue.
Blue screen with disk / memory / kernel error followed by shutdown.
Goes hot, fan loud, then shuts off. Classic thermal — deep clean fix.
Components heat up under load, fail. Paste / dust + possibly chip-level.
Liquid-induced corrosion taking out random components.
Auto-shutdown is the laptop’s self-defence response. Modern CPUs and GPUs have thermal protection circuits that monitor temperature hundreds of times per second; if the silicon hits its safe ceiling (typically 95-100°C), the chip cuts power to itself before it can damage the silicon. The motherboard sees the chip drop offline and triggers a system shutdown. Power-section components have similar protections — if a voltage rail goes out of spec, the embedded controller (EC) pulls the system down before component damage occurs.
This means random shutdowns aren’t random; they’re diagnostic responses to specific failures. The pattern tells us where to look. Shutdown during games or video calls — thermal. CPU/GPU temperatures climbing past safe limits. Most often: dried thermal paste + dust-clogged cooling. Fixable with deep clean (₹999-₹2,500). Shutdown on idle or with light load — not thermal. Usually power-section: failing capacitor on a voltage rail, charging IC issue, battery fuel-gauge mis-reporting. Chip-level repair (₹4,000-₹8,000).
Shutdown at specific battery percentage (e.g. always at 30%) — the battery’s fuel-gauge IC has lost calibration, the cells report 30% but actually have 0% remaining capacity. Battery replacement (₹2,000-₹15,000) or sometimes recalibration. BSOD then shutdown — software / driver / RAM / SSD issue. Often Windows-side fixable; sometimes failing memory or storage. We run diagnostic scans to identify which.
Liquid-damage shutdowns are the trickiest. Corrosion creeps across the board over days or weeks after a spill, taking out random components in unpredictable order. Each new failure causes a different symptom. The fix is ultrasonic clean + corrosion treatment + replace any failed components — covered on our liquid damage repair page.
Don’t guess. The wrong diagnosis costs money: replacing a battery when the issue is thermal, or doing a deep clean when the issue is a failed charging IC, leaves the customer with a still-broken laptop and a paid-for fix that didn’t address the real cause. We test for all three before quoting.
Doorstep diagnosis. Workshop work where needed. 30-day warranty.
When does it shut down? Under load = thermal scan. At idle = voltage probe.
Thermal / power-section / battery / liquid damage — we identify which.
Deep clean (₹999), chip-level (₹4-8k), battery (₹2-15k) — whichever is needed.
Run the laptop under same load to confirm shutdown stops. 30-day warranty.
Final price fixed at diagnosis based on the actual cause.
₹149 diagnosis covers full thermal + voltage testing. Most repairs land ₹999-₹6,000 because thermal causes dominate. 30-day warranty on workmanship.
What customers ask before booking in Hyderabad.
Auto-shutdown is almost always thermal or power-rail related. These are the underlying repairs we book in the same visit.
Top cause of auto-shutdown — thermal protection trips at 100°C. Fan + paste re-do drops temps 15-25°C and shutdowns stop.
Bearing-fatigued fan can't move enough air. Replacement + fresh paste restores cooling headroom.
Voltage sag from a tired cell can shut the laptop off at 30-50% under load. New cell module fixes the sudden-off behaviour.
If thermal isn't the cause, a failing power-rail capacitor or PMIC chip can shut the system. Chip-level diagnosis isolates it.
An under-rated or worn charger can't sustain heavy load — laptop falls back to battery and shuts off.
If shutdowns alternate with freezes, the cause is often shared (thermal or RAM/SSD). Combined diagnosis at one visit.
