After 12–18 months, dust chokes the fins and the factory thermal paste (a compound — the heat-transfer material between the chip and heatsink) dries out and loses conductivity. Result: GPU (graphics chip) thermal throttle, fan whine, frame-rate drops.
We strip the heatsink, clean residue with isopropyl, apply fresh Arctic MX-4 or equivalent, and reseat with the correct torque sequence. If fan blade bearings show wear (audible bearing noise), we replace the fan unit. Most Nitro / Helios owners report a 20–35°C drop and the fan settling back to near-silent during normal use.
