Each fault has its own bench procedure. We diagnose and tier-quote before any chargeable work.
The library powers up but the RMU (Remote Management Unit — the embedded web management interface) does not respond. The controller card firmware is corrupted or the card has failed. We attempt firmware recovery via serial console before recommending a controller card replacement.
An internal cooling fan has stalled. The library triggers a safe-shutdown to protect the LTO drive heads from overheating. We replace the fan module and verify thermal recovery before returning the library to service.
The Y-axis or X-axis calibration sensor is dirty or has failed after a power cycle or physical move. We clean the sensor, re-teach the arm via the RMU, and run a full inventory scan to verify positioning across all slots.
The cartridge does not lock fully into the dock, causing intermittent disconnects mid-write. The dock latch mechanism is worn. We replace the latch assembly and verify with an RDX Manager write/verify cycle.
A drive sled connector has worked loose or the connector pins are recessed. The library intermittently reports the drive as offline under sustained backup load. We re-seat or replace the sled.
A firmware bug in the embedded controller causes repeated DHCP failures, taking the RMU web interface offline every few hours. The fix: assign a static IP via the serial console and re-flash the controller firmware to the latest stable build.
