MSI’s Cooler Boost 5 system uses dual (or triple on Raider/Titan) fans spinning at 4,000–5,500 RPM under load. At those speeds, bearing wear accumulates fast — especially in Hyderabad where dust from road construction, open windows, and the dry October-March season clogs the fin array in 12–18 months. A clogged fin stack forces the fans to run at max RPM constantly, accelerating bearing wear. The first symptom is a rhythmic grinding or whirring at 3,000+ RPM; later progresses to a clicking sound (bearing cage contact) and then complete fan seizure. MSI Dragon Center / MSI Center advanced mode lets users pin fans at max — users who do this for gaming extend GPU life but burn bearings faster. Fans on Stealth’s 16mm slim chassis are particularly small-diameter and fail sooner under sustained gaming. The fan FPC connector is thin and can be damaged by non-specialist disassembly.
