Over 12–24 months, this levers the jack solder joints off the PCB. MSI uses both through-hole DC jacks (on older GE/GT series) and SMD board-mounted jacks (on newer slim models). The through-hole variant survives longer mechanically but the barrel pin corrodes; the SMD variant is more vulnerable to lever forces and can tear pads off the PCB. Symptom: laptop only charges when the cable is held at a specific angle, charging is intermittent, or there’s a visible crack or movement in the jack body.
