The barrel connector end is the weakest point: the centre pin is under constant mechanical stress from cable movement, and the 330W units run hot enough to soften the cable sheath at the bend point near the brick. A partially-failed charger may still deliver 19V but at insufficient current — the laptop recognises the adapter but can’t sustain gaming load, resulting in battery drain under full GPU load even with the charger plugged in.
