Why This Fails

MSI gaming laptop body and lid panels are manufactured from different materials depending on the series. Raider GE76/GE78 uses a brushed-titanium aluminium lid with the dragon-head emblem; Stealth uses a matte sandblasted magnesium-alloy top cover; Katana/Crosshair use ABS plastic with a brushed-finish sticker. Plastic lids crack under point impact (drops, sharp objects in backpacks), and the MSI dragon-emblem LED diffuser on Raider/Titan can shatter separately from the lid panel itself. The bottom base cover is the most commonly replaced piece — it takes the impact from desk placement and bag friction. Titanium and magnesium lids scratch but don’t crack easily; plastic lids crack but can be replaced cheaply.
