If you teach, your laptop probably does many jobs in one day: marks sheets on the desk, a lesson shown in tent shape, a quick note written with the screen folded flat. The IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 is built to bend back for exactly this kind of use. This guide explains in plain words what Lenovo has stated about it, how to treat the hinge, battery and Wi-Fi 7, and which questions to ask the seller.
What should an IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 owner know first?
Short answer: The IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 has a 360-degree hinge, a 60Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7 and an Intel Core Ultra chip, and it launched in India on 7 April 2026 from ₹1,19,990 at launch. Treat the hinge with the most care, keep the charger original, and ask the seller for the memory, storage and screen details that Lenovo's launch details do not give.
What has Lenovo stated about it?
Memory, storage, screen size and whether the battery can be replaced on its own are not part of those launch details. The Wh figure is the battery's size, and a higher number stores more energy; our battery Wh explainer shows how to compare it. A shop price today can differ from the launch price.
How do I look after a 360-degree hinge?
A hinge is the metal joint that holds the screen to the base. On a 2-in-1 it turns much further than on an ordinary laptop, so it works harder every day.
Hold the base when you open or fold it
Keep one hand on the base and use the other near the middle of the screen's top edge. Pulling one corner twists the frame and puts the load on one side of the hinge.
Stop where it stops
Do not force the screen past the point where it resists, and do not lift the laptop by the screen edge when it is folded back. Our note on what one fall does to a hinge shows how a small crack spreads.
Choose a firm surface for tent shape
In tent shape the vents sit close to the surface. On a bed or cushion they get blocked and the laptop warms up. A table or a hard book stand keeps air moving.
What about the 60Wh battery and Wi-Fi 7?
For a school day, the simplest habit is to charge at home and carry only the laptop, not the charger. Avoid letting it run to zero again and again; our guide to avoiding deep discharge explains why. Lenovo's Vantage app offers a battery care setting on many of its laptops, and the steps are in our Lenovo battery care mode guide. Whether this model has it, check in the app.
Wi-Fi 7 is a recent wireless standard. The laptop connects to an older router as before, but the new standard shows its benefit only with a Wi-Fi 7 router. Our Wi-Fi 7 router guide covers when that upgrade is worth it.
Classroom dust, damp bags and voltage dips
Chalk dust and ceiling-fan dust settle into vents and ports, so wipe them with a dry soft cloth and keep the laptop in a sleeve, not loose in a crowded school bag. In the monsoon, humid air and wet bags are the bigger risk: keep a dry cloth in the bag and let the laptop reach room temperature before you switch it on. Voltage dips can happen in some buildings, so a surge-protected socket and the original charger protect the battery. If you live far from a service centre, ask the seller how a courier repair would work before you buy.
What should I check before paying for one?
Open the laptop in the shop and fold it through all four positions: laptop, tent, stand and flat. The motion should feel smooth and even, with no creak or sudden loose spot. Ask for the model number from the label and the invoice, and make sure both match. Do not pay the full amount before you have seen the sealed box opened and the model number matched to the invoice. Ask also how the warranty treats the hinge, because some warranties exclude physical damage. Do not use a charger from another brand to save time, since wrong voltage can harm the battery.
When to get help
- The screen wobbles, clicks or will not stay at the angle you set.
- A gap opens between the screen frame and the base near the hinge.
- The battery drops from full to empty much faster than before.
- The laptop does not charge, or shuts down when you unplug it.

A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Choose one habit for the hinge: always open and fold with both hands, base held down. It costs nothing, takes a second, and spares the joint the sideways twist that can lead to hinge trouble. Write the model number and the memory size on a note inside your bag, because every later repair or warranty question starts with them.
