What each service component does
General service — internal cleaning
The general service opens the laptop, removes accumulated dust from the fan blades and heatsink fins, cleans the board of oxidation and debris, and checks all connectors and internal cables. Dust insulates the heatsink — after 2 years of typical use in a dusty Indian environment, the heatsink can lose 30–40% of its thermal transfer capacity. Thermal paste replacement
Thermal paste (also called thermal interface material) is a heat-conductive compound between the CPU/GPU chip and the heatsink. Over 3–4 years, the original paste dries, shrinks, and develops micro-cracks — reducing thermal transfer efficiency. Replacing it with a quality compound (Noctua NT-H1, Thermalright TF-7, or similar) adds another 3–7°C reduction on top of the cleaning benefit. Battery replacement
Battery capacity degrades with every charge cycle — most lithium-ion laptop batteries reach 80% of original capacity between 300 and 500 cycles, depending on how the laptop is charged and stored. After 2–3 years of daily use, most Indian laptop owners have either replaced the battery or are using a laptop with significantly reduced runtime. Replacing the battery as part of a service combo makes sense when the cell is below 75% design capacity. Budget ₹1,800–₹4,500 for the battery depending on brand, on top of the service cost.
The India angle — combo timing and season
The best time to book this combo in India is just before summer (March–April), when ambient temperatures start climbing and thermal margin becomes critical. A laptop already running hot in March will thermal-throttle (automatically reduce performance to prevent damage) in May–June. Pre-summer servicing adds 15–25% thermal headroom — enough to make the difference between a smooth summer work session and a stuttering overheating laptop. The second best timing is post-monsoon (October), when moisture exposure peaks and internal cleaning is valuable.
