Why Edge shows “this site can’t be reached” for Cloudflare CDN sites in India
Short answer: Microsoft Edge, unlike Chrome, does not enable DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH — a protocol that encrypts DNS lookups and bypasses the ISP's standard DNS resolver) by default on all Windows 11 configurations. When an Indian ISP's DNS server has a stale or broken record for a Cloudflare-hosted domain — or when the ISP's peering route to Cloudflare's Anycast network is congested — Edge fails to resolve the site. Enabling DoH in Edge and pointing it to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 resolver typically fixes the error within 30 seconds without needing to change any network adapter settings.
How to fix Edge “this site can’t be reached” for Cloudflare sites
Step 1: Enable DNS-over-HTTPS in Edge and select Cloudflare
Open Microsoft Edge → Settings (three-dot menu) → Privacy, search, and services → scroll to the Security section → "Use secure DNS to specify how to lookup the network address for websites" → toggle to On → "Choose a service provider" → select Cloudflare (1.1.1.1). Close Settings and reload the page. Edge will now use Cloudflare's encrypted DNS resolver, completely bypassing the ISP's DNS server for all lookups. Step 2: Disable IPv6 on the network adapter if Jio broadband is the ISP
Jio's broadband uses dual-stack IPv4/IPv6. Cloudflare preferentially serves content over IPv6 on dual-stack connections. When Jio's IPv6 routing to Cloudflare's edge nodes is congested (common during evening peak hours of 7–10 PM), Edge's IPv6 connection attempt times out before Edge falls back to IPv4. The result is a 20–30 second wait followed by an error. To disable IPv6 on Windows: Device Manager (Win + X) → Network Adapters → right-click your Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter → Properties → uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" → OK. Test Edge immediately — the site should load. This fix is reversible — re-enable IPv6 once Jio resolves the routing issue, or leave it disabled if the error was chronic.
Step 3: Flush DNS and clear the Edge DNS cache
If the above steps do not fully resolve the error, there may be a stale DNS entry cached locally. Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: ipconfig /flushdns. Then in Edge, go to edge://net-internals/#dns and click "Clear host cache" to flush Edge's own internal DNS resolver cache. Edge maintains a separate cache from Windows, and stale entries there survive even after a Windows DNS flush. Restart Edge after clearing both caches and test again.
Step 4: The India angle — peak-hour Cloudflare congestion on Indian ISPs

During peak evening hours, Jio and Airtel's peering links to Cloudflare's Mumbai and Chennai PoPs (Points of Presence — the physical data centres closest to you) can become congested.
