On a Windows laptop, the keyboard is a separate rubber-dome or scissor-membrane unit bolted to the chassis — you can remove it in minutes and install a commodity replacement. On a MacBook, the keyboard is factory-bonded to the aluminium top-case (the piece that holds the keyboard, trackpad, and palmrest).
