Thirteen issues we fix every week on HP laptops in Hyderabad. Tap the one closest to your situation.
Powers on, shows HP logo, then freezes or restarts endlessly. Boot loader or EFI is corrupted — usually fixable without data loss.
Random BSOD stop codes — IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Can be a driver, bad RAM, or failing SSD.
Update stuck at 0% or rolled back with an error code. Partial updates can leave Windows in a broken state that won’t boot normally.
Takes 5–10 minutes to reach the desktop. Common on HP Pavilions loaded with HP bloatware, McAfee, and HP Support Assistant all running at boot.
Startup Repair runs, says “couldn’t repair your PC”, restarts, and loops forever. Windows Recovery can’t fix itself — needs manual EFI rebuild.
HP Pavilion upgraded to Windows 11 but audio stopped, Wi-Fi dropped, or GPU drivers broke. Windows Update downloads generic drivers that miss HP-specific firmware.
HP EliteBook asks for Bitlocker recovery key on every boot. Key must come from your Microsoft account — wrong key means data at risk. We walk you through recovery safely.
HP’s OEM license is embedded in the BIOS. After a fresh install it should auto-activate. If it’s showing “not activated”, the wrong Windows edition was installed — fixable.
HP Wolf Security, McAfee, HP Audio Switch, HP Support Assistant — some are useful, most are not. We remove what you don’t need and tune startup programs.
Still on Windows 10 and want to move to Windows 11. Your HP may support it — TPM 2.0 is often hidden in BIOS. We check, enable it, and upgrade cleanly.
HP upgraded itself to Windows 11 but apps or peripherals broke. We restore Windows 10 cleanly and install the right driver set for your HP model.
Want a clean slate. We back up your data, wipe and reinstall Windows 10 or 11, install full HP driver suite, and set up Office / Defender if needed.
HP ships laptops with a complex pre-installed software stack: HP Wolf Security, HP Support Assistant, McAfee Total Protection, HP Audio Switch, HP Quick Drop, and more. These run background services, update themselves, and interact with Windows in ways a clean Windows install would not. When a Windows Update arrives, it has to navigate this ecosystem without breaking anything. Sometimes it doesn’t — and you get a boot failure or BSOD that looks catastrophic but is often fixable in under two hours.
The most common cause of HP-stuck-on-logo is a corrupted EFI boot entry. Windows stores its boot configuration in a small partition called the EFI System Partition (ESP). A failed update, sudden power cut during patching, or even a misbehaving HP BIOS update can scramble these entries. The laptop finds the hardware, posts correctly, shows the HP logo — then can’t hand off to Windows because it can’t find or read the boot configuration. The fix is to boot from a USB recovery drive, run bootrec /fixmbr && bootrec /fixboot && bootrec /rebuildbcd, and restore the EFI entries. In most cases this takes 30–45 minutes and your data is untouched.
BSOD diagnosis is more nuanced. The stop code on screen is a starting point, not a final answer. We read the minidump files in C:\Windows\Minidump using WinDbg to identify the exact driver or module that caused the crash. A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD can mean a driver is corrupting memory (software fix) or your RAM has a physical fault (hardware replacement). A WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR often points to hardware failure — overheating CPU, failing SSD, or loose RAM slot. Getting this right saves you from paying for a reinstall that won’t solve the underlying problem.
For Windows 11 upgrades on HP, the biggest gotcha is TPM 2.0. HP laptops from 2018 onwards typically have a TPM 2.0 chip, but HP BIOS sometimes ships with it hidden under “PTT” (Intel Platform Trust Technology) or disabled outright. Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool will say your HP “doesn’t meet requirements” when in fact you just need to enter BIOS (F10 on HP), navigate to Security → TPM Configuration, and set it to “Enabled”. HP Pavilion G8/G9, EliteBook G7+, ProBook G7+, OMEN 16 (2021+) all support Windows 11 once TPM is enabled. We handle the BIOS change, compatibility check, backup, and upgrade in one visit.
HP OMEN gaming laptops need special attention at the driver level. A generic Windows install will not include OMEN Command Center, the custom fan control profiles, or the HP Temporal upscaling software. We download the exact driver package for your OMEN model from HP’s support portal and install chipset, GPU (NVIDIA GeForce RTX), audio (Bang & Olufsen), network, and HP-specific utilities in the correct order. A wrong install order on gaming laptops — GPU before chipset, for example — causes device conflicts that show up as random BSODs weeks later. More on BIOS and firmware repair.
Data safety is non-negotiable. Before any fresh install or recovery partition restore, we offer to back up your Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Pictures, and any other folders to an external drive. Cost: ₹500–₹2,000 depending on volume. We don’t start a format without your explicit go-ahead and confirmed backup. More on our data recovery service for cases where the drive is already failing.
