Checking status… Hyderabad doorstep laptop repair

Building or upgrading a workstation desktop for serious work?

Honest specs · OEM-spec parts · 30-day workmanship warranty

A workstation isn’t a fast gaming PC. Architects, video editors, AI/ML researchers, traders, music producers, radiologists and genomics labs each need different tradeoffs — ECC vs DDR5 speed, Threadripper vs Xeon W vs Apple Silicon, RTX A-series vs RTX 5090, NVMe Gen4 array vs ZFS HDD, multi-monitor scaling, noise budget. We help you spec, source, build, burn-in, and service it — doorstep across Hyderabad, consult-and-ship for the rest of India.

Which workstation fits your work?

Pick the closest match. Most professional builds are a tuned variation of one of these — not a generic “gaming i9”.

CAD & architecture

AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, Rhino. Single-thread CPU matters more than core count. RTX A4000/A5000 or RTX 4070 Ti Super, 64GB DDR5, NVMe Gen4. 4K colour-accurate display.

Video editing & colour

Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut. Core count + NVMe throughput dominate. Ryzen 9 / i9 / M-series Max/Ultra, 64-128GB RAM, RTX 4080/4090/5090 for AI tools, dual NVMe scratch.

AI / ML training & inference

VRAM is the unlock. RTX 4090 / 5090 24GB single-card, or A6000 48GB for larger LLM fine-tunes. 128GB DDR5 system RAM, PCIe Gen5 NVMe, large PSU + cooling headroom.

Music production & DAW

Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase. CPU single-thread + low-latency audio interface. Silent build essential — passive PSU, large slow fans, SSD-only storage. M-series Mac mini also viable.

Financial trading & multi-monitor

8-monitor setups, low-latency network card, redundant UPS, NVMe data drives. Tally fleets use 4-monitor builds for receivable / payable / report / data-entry concurrent workflow.

Radiology & DICOM

Multi-monitor 3-up or 4-up DICOM-compliant displays, calibrated colour, dual NVMe + RAID for PACS cache, ECC RAM where the workflow requires it.

Genomics & bioinformatics

High core count for parallel pipelines (Snakemake, Nextflow), 128-256GB ECC RAM, 8TB+ NVMe Gen4 RAID, optional A100/H100 for ML-augmented sequencing.

Stable Diffusion / Flux generative AI

Large VRAM single-card builds — RTX 4090, RTX 5090, A6000. Quick inference + LoRA training. Quiet enough for 24/7 background generation.

Pre-built vs custom vs refurbished

Three honest paths to a workstation. Each makes sense in different situations.

Pre-built OEM (Dell Precision / HP Z / Lenovo P)

Best for warranty + corporate procurement + ISV-certified workstations. Dell Precision 3680/7960, HP Z2/Z4/Z6, Lenovo ThinkStation P3/P5/P8. We help spec, source via authorised resellers, and configure on delivery.

Custom build (best price-per-spec)

Threadripper Pro, Xeon W, Ryzen 9, Core Ultra 9. ASRock/ASUS ProArt or workstation board. Noctua / Arctic / AIO cooling. Quiet case (Define 7 XL, Meshify, O11). Best when you know exactly what you need.

Refurbished workstation

Older Dell Precision T5810/T7910, HP Z440/Z640/Z840, Lenovo P520/P720. Xeon E5/E5-v4, ECC DDR4, refurbished GPUs. Honest tradeoff: 40-60% cheaper, slightly older platform, fully working. We refurbish in-house.

Component priorities by workload

Not every workstation needs an RTX 5090. Spend where your workload bottlenecks — CPU, GPU, RAM, or storage.

CPU-bound: CAD, audio, trading

Single-thread frequency matters most. Ryzen 9 7950X / 9950X, Core Ultra 9 285K, M4 Pro/Max. Skip dual-socket Xeons — latency tax exceeds gains for these workloads.

GPU-bound: ML, generative AI, 3D render

VRAM is the hard limit. 24GB minimum for serious AI work, 48GB for larger fine-tunes. RTX 4090 / 5090 / A6000. Dual-GPU adds cost + driver complexity — honest advice: single big card usually wins.

RAM-bound: video, genomics, virtualisation

64GB DDR5 is the new baseline for serious video / data work. 128-256GB if you run multiple VMs, bioinformatics pipelines, or in-memory analytics.

I/O-bound: video scratch, scientific data

NVMe Gen4 8TB single, or 4×2TB Gen4 RAID 0 for video scratch. ZFS pool of slow HDDs for archive. Don’t pair RTX 5090 with SATA SSD.

Service, warranty & on-site help

Workstations are expensive. We service them like they matter.

Doorstep diagnostics across Hyderabad

₹149 visit. Most workstation faults (RAM upgrade, GPU swap, NVMe expansion, thermal repaste) resolve on-site within 60–90 min. Workshop dispatch for chip-level board work.

30-day workmanship warranty

Every repair carries a 30-day warranty on labour. OEM parts carry their own manufacturer warranty (3-5 years on professional GPUs, 5 years on workstation SSDs).

No Fix — No Fee policy

If a fault can’t be diagnosed or repaired, you don’t pay (the ₹149 visit fee stays). Honest path: we’ll tell you when a workstation is past economic repair.

India-wide consult + ship-to-Secunderabad

Outside Hyderabad? WhatsApp us photos and BIOS info, we’ll diagnose and quote. Courier to our Secunderabad workshop, we return-ship after repair.

Why choose Laptop Repair World

Since 2007

Built and serviced workstations for Hyderabad’s architects, studios, hospitals, trading desks, research labs — 1 Lakh+ repairs done.

Honest specs

We push back on overspec. A ₹3L build that bottlenecks at SATA SSD wastes the GPU. Workload-first advice, vendor-neutral.

Workshop & doorstep

On-site repair for most issues. Chip-level board work at our MG Road store. Either way, OEM-spec parts only.

Data preserved

NVMe upgrades, RAID rebuilds, ZFS expansions — data integrity verified at every step. Bit-for-bit clones before destructive operations.

Common questions

How much does a serious workstation desktop cost in India today?

It depends on workload. A solid CAD workstation runs ₹1.2–2.5 Lakh, a serious video-editing build ₹2.5–5 Lakh, a 24GB-VRAM AI build ₹3.5–7 Lakh, a 48GB-VRAM ML build ₹7–12 Lakh. Refurbished workstations bring entry points down 40-60%. We’ll quote both pre-built and custom paths after understanding the workload.

Pre-built Dell Precision / HP Z, or custom build?

Pre-built wins on warranty, ISV certification (SolidWorks / AutoCAD validate against specific OEM models), and corporate procurement. Custom wins on price-per-spec by 25-40% and lets you pick exactly the cooling / case / quietness you want. If the build needs to pass a corporate IT review — pre-built. If it’s your own workstation — custom usually wins.

Can refurbished workstations run modern AI / ML loads?

Yes for inference, sometimes for fine-tuning. A refurbished HP Z840 with dual Xeon E5-2697 v4 and an added RTX 3090 24GB runs Stable Diffusion, Llama-3-8B inference, and PyTorch training on small datasets fine. Limits: no PCIe Gen4, slower NVMe, more power draw. Honest tradeoff: 40-60% cheaper, 10-20% slower for most ML workloads.

Do you handle India-wide workstation requests or only Hyderabad?

Both. Hyderabad gets full doorstep service — ₹149 visit, on-site diagnostics, walk-in at our MG Road Secunderabad store. India-wide customers WhatsApp us for spec consults; for repairs you courier the unit to Secunderabad, we diagnose, quote, and return-ship after repair.

What warranty do you give on a custom-built workstation?

30 days on labour and assembly from us. Each component (CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, PSU, motherboard) keeps its manufacturer warranty — typically 3 years on consumer parts, 5 years on workstation-grade parts. We honour cross-shipment for warranty claims with most major brands.

How do you decide between RTX 4090, 5090, and A6000 for an AI build?

VRAM is the deciding number. 24GB (4090 / 5090) handles most fine-tuning of 7-13B models with QLoRA, full inference of 7-30B models, and Stable Diffusion / Flux. 48GB (A6000) lets you fine-tune larger 13-30B models without paging or train smaller models from scratch. Above 48GB — A100 / H100 / multi-GPU rigs, real budget territory.

Will my old workstation be cheaper to repair or replace?

Depends on age and fault. If the motherboard is dead on a 6+ year-old Xeon E5 workstation, replacing the platform usually makes sense. If just the SMPS or a fan failed, 80% of the time repair is cheaper. We always quote both paths so the decision is yours.
