You run a small clinic with a reception desk, a billing computer and two or three laptops, and you read that TP-Link is now making Wi-Fi 7 equipment in India. Does it matter to you? This guide explains what was reported, what an access point is, what to check before buying, and why your laptops decide how much you gain. It does not quote prices, because they differ by seller.
What does TP-Link making Wi-Fi 7 in India mean for a small office?
Short answer: It may mean more local supply of Wi-Fi 7 equipment, but it does not by itself make your office Wi-Fi faster. Fone Arena reported that TP-Link began local manufacture in May 2026, starting with an enterprise access point called the Omada EAP770. The report names no other product. Your laptops and your internet plan decide most of what you gain.
What was reported?
Fone Arena reported that TP-Link India began local manufacture of Wi-Fi 7 products in May 2026, following India's decision to open the lower 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi. The first product named was the Omada EAP770, which is an access point (a box fixed to the ceiling or wall that gives out the Wi-Fi signal, used in offices instead of a home router). You can read TP-Link's own press page on Wi-Fi 7 in India. The report names only that enterprise access point, so for any consumer router, ask the seller in writing where it is made and what the warranty terms are.
Router or access point: which does an office need?
An enterprise access point is often set up by an installer and may need a managed network. For a one-room clinic a simple router is often enough, and a technician can advise.
Will my laptops get faster?
Only the laptops that support Wi-Fi 7. Many office laptops use older Wi-Fi and will connect to a Wi-Fi 7 access point at their own, older speed. Look for Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 on the laptop's spec sheet to see which ones qualify. Your internet plan is the other limit: the best access point cannot send more than the connection from the provider.
What questions should I ask the seller?
- What is the exact model number, and does the box show Wi-Fi 7?
- Is the warranty valid in India, and where is the nearest service point to my city?
- Does the unit need a separate power adapter or a powered network cable?
- Will it work with my internet provider's modem, and who sets it up?
How do I set up an office network safely?
- Change the router's default admin password on the first day.
- Give staff a private Wi-Fi name with a strong password, and visitors a separate guest network.
- Keep the billing and record-keeping computers on a cable where possible.
- Turn on automatic updates for the router's software if the maker offers them.
- Write down the router login and keep it somewhere safe.
Never leave the router's default password in place. Our guide to backup software for small businesses helps with the files that matter most.
Power cuts, heat and warranty for office network gear
Power cuts and voltage dips are a real daily risk to office network gear. A small UPS (a battery backup unit) for the router and the main computer keeps billing running through short cuts. Plug network equipment into a surge-protected socket. Keep it in a ventilated place, because heat and dust shorten its life, and check that the warranty is valid in India and that service is available in your city. Rupee prices differ between sellers, so compare in writing.
When to get help
- A laptop connects to the office Wi-Fi but shows no internet.
- Wi-Fi was fine until a Windows update or a reinstall.
- The billing computer disconnects during busy hours.
- You need help moving files and settings to a new office laptop.
Our Windows installation and setup page covers driver and system fixes on the laptop side. For access points and cabling, a network installer is the right person to ask. Back up your records before any reinstall. In Hyderabad we visit you at home or the clinic, and the charge is ₹149 doorstep visit fee, waived when you approve laptop repair with us. We also accept laptops by courier from anywhere in India.
A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Make a one-page list for your office: the router model, where its admin password is kept, the internet provider's helpline and the date you bought it. When something stops working, this page saves an hour. Test the guest Wi-Fi once from your own phone to confirm that staff computers are not visible.
