Step-by-step NVMe recovery for Snapdragon X Elite laptops in India
Step 1: Retrieve the BitLocker recovery key before anything else
Before removing the drive or attempting any boot-level recovery, navigate to account.microsoft.com/devices on any working device and note your BitLocker recovery key. All Copilot+ PCs running Windows 11 with a Microsoft account have ADE enabled automatically during setup. Without this 48-digit key, removing the NVMe drive and connecting it elsewhere produces only an unreadable encrypted volume — no data visible. Once you have the key saved, you have options. Step 2: Boot into Windows Recovery Environment if the laptop still powers on
If the Snapdragon X Elite laptop powers on but will not boot to desktop, Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is your first tool. Hold Shift and restart, or interrupt boot three times to trigger automatic WinRE entry. From WinRE, Command Prompt gives you access to the NTFS filesystem (decrypted, because the TPM provides the BitLocker key while on the original device). Use xcopy /s /e /h D:\Users\YourName C:\Recovery\ to copy your files to an external USB drive while in WinRE.
Step 3: Linux ARM live boot for when WinRE is unavailable
