If you work long hours on a laptop in a Madhapur office, flat or coworking desk, you may have noticed the fan getting louder, the keyboard turning warm and the laptop slowing down by evening. Dust and heat are usually behind it, and a few habits help a great deal. This guide explains the causes in plain words, lists the safe checks, and tells you what needs a technician, so you can decide whether a quick routine is enough or a visit is worth booking.
Why does my office laptop get so hot?
Short answer: a laptop cools itself by pulling air through narrow vents and over a heatsink (a small metal block that carries heat away from the processor). Dust blocks that path, and soft surfaces such as a bed, a sofa or a cushion block the vents underneath. The result is a hotter processor, a louder fan and slower work.
Hyderabad's summer heat, dust and monsoon humidity make this worse, because the room air already starts warm. All-day use adds to it, because a laptop in an office is rarely switched off: a laptop that runs video calls, a browser with many tabs and large spreadsheets all day never gets a chance to cool.
What can I do safely at my desk?
- Use a hard, flat surface. A desk or a laptop stand keeps the underside vents open.
- Raise the back a little, with a stand or a firm base, so air can enter below.
- Keep the sides and back clear. Do not push the laptop against a wall, a pile of files or a monitor stand.
- Wipe the vents on the outside with a dry, soft brush or cloth while the laptop is switched off and unplugged.
- Close what you do not use. Fewer running programs means less heat.
Never block the vents with a cloth cover while the laptop is running, and never open the laptop yourself if it is in warranty; opening it can affect your cover. Our summer overheating guide and the dust filter and AC guide add more detail.
Heat and dust in Madhapur offices and flats
Madhapur visits can be to a flat, a gated office, a coworking desk or a reception handoff, and each place has its own rules. Entry permission, parking, visitor-pass details and the way the laptop will be handed over are confirmed before the appointment window. Tell us how the fault shows up: after long use, in the meeting room, on the dock or on the charger. A laptop that overheats at a docking desk with a lid closed, for instance, is a different case from one that heats up on a bed.
If the laptop is issued by your employer, check your employer's IT or asset policy first, because independent cleaning or repair may not be allowed. A MacBook or laptop that is in warranty, or covered by an active plan such as AppleCare+ or a Care Pack, goes to the brand's service first.
How Laptop Repair World helps in Madhapur
Madhapur is a service area; our only store is at MG Road, Secunderabad, and we visit Madhapur by appointment. You can also bring the laptop to the store. We record condition, serial number and accessories when we collect it, and give a written quotation listing parts, labour, GST and the visit fee. If testing finds another fault, a revised quotation is approved before more paid work. Complimentary cleaning of the accessible area comes with eligible repairs. Internal cleaning and thermal service are separate paid work, quoted after assessment. Parts are named as original, compatible or refurbished, and the repaired function is shown at handover. See our laptop repair in Madhapur page and, for Dell users, Dell service in Madhapur.

A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Treat the stand as part of your desk, not an accessory. A laptop on a hard surface with a gap below it runs cooler for years. Once a month, look at the vents with a torch. If you can see a grey layer of fluff, a technician should clean it.
