Your Lenovo Yoga 7i slipped out of a bag, and now a crack runs across the screen. Before you book anyone, you wonder whether Lenovo's accidental damage cover applies and whether it is worth comparing an independent repair. This post sets out what Lenovo says its plans cover, the limits you should know, what an independent repair can offer, and a plain rule: plan active, use Lenovo; no plan, compare scope and total cost.
Is your cracked screen covered by a plan?
Short answer: look for proof of an accidental damage plan first. If you have one, and it was active when the screen cracked, begin with Lenovo. If you do not, or if the plan has ended, ask for a written quote from an independent repair and compare the part type, the work listed and the total cost. Do not keep using a screen with spreading cracks, because glass edges and display damage can get worse.
What does Lenovo say its plans cover?
Lenovo's India pages describe Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) as cover for accidental drops, spills, bumps and structural failures under normal handling. Its consumer services page lists cracked screens among the things covered, says only Lenovo-certified parts are used, and describes unlimited claims with no additional repair fees. A variant called ADP One covers a single repair during the plan period and is offered for selected devices. Premium Care Plus adds Accidental Damage Protection to Premium Care and, as Lenovo states it, covers onsite visits where required, including parts and labour.
The limits matter just as much. Lenovo states that ADP does not cover pre-existing damage. If you buy it after the laptop, you must wait 30 days before filing a claim. Some upgrades, including ADP, can be added only within ninety days of purchase. You can read the wording yourself on Lenovo's consumer services page, which was checked on 19 October 2026 and may change. Cover that was bought after the crack appeared will not pay for it. What if there is no plan?
If you have only the standard warranty, read its papers to see whether accidental damage is covered. Lenovo's India services page lists out-of-warranty services, so ask Lenovo or check its current page for how a paid screen repair is arranged and what it costs. Then compare that quote with an independent one.
What can an independent repair do?

We assess the screen, check whether the cable, hinge or frame has also been hit, and give a written quotation listing parts, labour, GST and the visit fee before work begins. Each part is named as original, compatible or refurbished, with its own warranty stated on the quote. If testing finds another fault, we send a revised quotation for your approval before further paid work.
When we collect a laptop, we record its condition, serial number and accessories. After the repair, we show you the working screen and provide a short written record. A 30-day repair warranty applies, subject to its terms. Doorstep visits across Hyderabad have a ₹149 doorstep visit fee, waived when you approve laptop repair with us. No Fix No Fee covers the repair charge, and the visit fee is waived only when you approve the repair. Elsewhere in India, laptops can be sent to us by courier.
How should you compare the two routes?
What does a typical case look like?
For example, a laptop slides off a desk, and the screen cracks in one corner while the keyboard still works. The owner finds a Premium Care Plus receipt in an email from the day of purchase. The rule is simple here: the plan is active, so Lenovo comes first. Now take the same crack on a Yoga bought two years ago with no plan. A written quote that names the part type and the total, from one or more repairers, is the sensible step. This is an illustration, not a record of a real job.
Why do bags, buses and monsoon rain matter for screens in India?
A laptop pressed in a crowded bag, a train seat or a two-wheeler carrier takes pressure on the lid. A pen or charger pressed against the lid in a packed bag can crack the panel. Monsoon rain and damp bags add the risk of moisture near the edges. If water got in as well, switch the laptop off and do not charge it, because liquid damage is separate work and can affect more than the screen. Use a padded sleeve and keep cables away from the lid.

When is Lenovo the better route, and when is an independent repair?
- Use Lenovo when an ADP or Premium Care Plus plan was active before the damage, and you have the papers.
- Consider an independent repair when no plan exists, the plan has ended, or the damage came before the plan.
- Compare scope, part type and total cost, and not just the first figure you hear.

When to get help
- The crack is spreading, or lines and dark patches appear on the display.
- The screen flickers, goes black or shows colour bands.
- The lid or hinge is bent, or the frame has lifted.
- You are unsure whether your plan covers the damage.

A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Before any repair, photograph the crack and the lid from all sides, and note the serial number. Find your plan papers or purchase email. Those three things settle most questions quickly, whichever route you choose, and they protect you if damage is later disputed.
