What is Bluetooth LE Audio and does your Lenovo Yoga support it?
Short answer: Bluetooth LE Audio is a next-generation wireless audio standard introduced in Bluetooth 5.2 — it uses the LC3 codec (Low Complexity Communication Codec — a newer audio compression method) for better sound at lower power draw, plus Auracast broadcast capability (sharing audio to multiple headphones at once). Lenovo Yoga models with Intel 12th gen or newer processors have the required Bluetooth 5.2/5.3 hardware. The key steps to activate it are: update Intel Bluetooth driver and pair a headphone that also explicitly supports LE Audio.
How to enable Bluetooth LE Audio on Lenovo Yoga
Step 1: Check your Bluetooth hardware version
Open Device Manager (right-click Start). Expand Bluetooth and look for an Intel Wireless Bluetooth adapter. Right-click → Properties → Details tab → select Bluetooth radio firmware version or check the adapter name. Yoga models with Intel AX210, AX211, AX411 (Wi-Fi 6E adapters) include Bluetooth 5.3 and support LE Audio. Yoga models with Intel AX200 or AX201 use Bluetooth 5.2 — also LE Audio capable but with an older firmware baseline. If you see Intel Wireless 9460 or 8265, that is Bluetooth 5.0/5.1 — LE Audio is not supported on these; the guide stops here for those models.
Step 2: Update Intel Bluetooth driver
Open Lenovo Vantage → Device → System Update and run a full scan. Install any pending Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver updates. Alternatively, go to Windows Update → Advanced Options → Optional Updates and check for Bluetooth driver updates there. The driver version should be 23.x or 24.x — earlier versions do not activate LE Audio in the Windows 11 audio stack. After updating, restart the laptop. Also confirm Windows 11 is up to date (22H2 or later is required for LE Audio API support).
Step 3: Pair an LE Audio-compatible headphone
Put your LE Audio headphones into fresh pairing mode (not reconnection mode — a full power-off and re-pair). On the Yoga, go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth and select the headphone. Once paired, go to Settings → System → Sound → select the headphone → More sound settings (or right-click the speaker icon in taskbar). In the headphone properties, the Supported formats tab should list Bluetooth Audio via LE or the LC3 codec. If it only shows SBC, the headphone does not support LE Audio or is connected in classic mode — try unpairing and re-pairing once more.
Step 4: The India angle — LE Audio availability and Auracast use cases
LE Audio headphone availability in India has improved significantly — Sony, Samsung, and JBL LE Audio models are available on Flipkart and Amazon India. Auracast broadcast — the most exciting LE Audio feature — lets you share audio from the Yoga to multiple headphones simultaneously without pairing, useful for watching content in the same room with a partner or colleague (each person pairs their own headphones to the Yoga's Auracast broadcast). This feature requires both the laptop and headphones to support Auracast specifically (a subset of LE Audio). LE Audio driver maturity improved significantly in Intel's 24.x release. If you updated to 23.x and LE Audio was inconsistent, a secondary update to 24.x often resolves it. Also note: LE Audio is not the same as aptX or LDAC — those are classic Bluetooth codecs for high-res audio. LE Audio's LC3 codec is specifically designed for low-power and low-latency, not audiophile-grade bitrate.
