You may have bought a Galaxy Book6 or Book6 Pro and now want a second charger for the office bag or the hostel room. Or the original one has stopped working. This guide explains what 45W and 65W mean in plain words, what Samsung lists for each model, and how to read your own charger label so you can order the right one without guessing.
Does the Galaxy Book6 use a 45W charger and the Book6 Pro a 65W one?
Short answer: Yes, going by what Samsung listed at the India launch on 27 March 2026. The Galaxy Book6 is listed with 45W charging and the Galaxy Book6 Pro with a 65W USB-C charger. Watts (W) measure how fast a charger can deliver power. Before you buy anything, read the number printed on your own charger and on the laptop's label, because the box contents are what truly matter.
What has Samsung stated for each model?
Wh (watt-hour) is the size of the battery: a bigger number stores more energy. Samsung's listing does not say which plug type the Galaxy Book6 uses for its 45W charging, nor the charger brand or cable length. If the plug type matters to you, check the charger in the box or ask the seller.
Can I use a 65W charger on a 45W laptop?
Often yes, if the plug fits and the charger follows the USB-C Power Delivery standard (a common rule that lets the laptop and charger agree on a safe power level). The laptop only draws what it needs. The reverse is different: a 45W charger on a 65W laptop may charge slowly, or not at all while you work. Do not use a charger of lower wattage than the one supplied with your laptop.
How do I pick a spare charger?
- Read the label. Your original charger prints its output, such as volts (V) and amps (A), in small letters. The laptop label under the base shows its input needs.
- Match or exceed the wattage. Same or higher is fine. Lower is not.
- Match the plug. For the Book6 Pro, Samsung states USB-C. For the Book6, confirm the plug on your own charger.
- Buy from a seller who gives a bill. A bill helps with any return and tells you who stands behind the product.
- Use a good cable. For USB-C chargers, a thin phone cable may not carry 65W. Our USB-C cable guide for fast charging explains what to look for.
Should I carry a second charger or a power bank?
If you travel between a home and an office, a spare charger in each place saves you carrying one every day. A power bank can help on long journeys only if it states USB-C power output close to your laptop's need. Check the output listed on the power bank, because small ones may not be able to run a laptop at all.
Never charge the laptop with a cable that is frayed, bent or hot at the plug. Replace it first.
Power cuts, damp and fake chargers
Voltage dips and sudden power cuts are hard on chargers. Plug the laptop charger into a surge-protected socket or a good extension board, and unplug it during a thunderstorm. In the humid monsoon months, keep the charger and cable dry and avoid coiling the cable tightly around the brick. Counterfeit chargers exist, so read our guide on how counterfeit chargers damage laptops before you save a few hundred rupees. If you travel across states, note the nearest Samsung service point before you leave.
What if the original charger has stopped working?
First try the charger on another socket and check that the plug is pushed in fully. Look along the cable for kinks near both ends, which is where breaks often begin. If a second known-good charger of the correct wattage also fails to charge the laptop, the fault is more likely in the charging port or on the board. Stop there and have it examined, because repeated forcing can make a small fault bigger.
When to get help
- The laptop shows a charging light but the battery percentage does not rise.
- The charger gets too hot to hold or smells of burning.
- The laptop charges only when the cable is held at one angle.
- A new, correct charger still does not charge the laptop.
These signs can point to the charging port or the board rather than the charger. Please see our laptop charger service page. In Hyderabad we visit you at home, and the charge is ₹149 doorstep visit fee, waived when you approve laptop repair with us. We also accept laptops by courier from anywhere in India.
A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Write the wattage of your original charger on a small sticker or in your phone notes on the day you unpack the laptop. When you need a spare, that single number saves you from guessing at the shop counter. Keep the original charger in the best condition you can, because it is the exact one the maker chose for your model.
