The PA5283U-1BRS fits the post-2019 Dynabook Tecra and Satellite Pro models — the machines sold under the Sharp Dynabook brand after Toshiba's consumer exit. These are the most recent Toshiba/Dynabook laptops in active use in India, and they occupy a slightly different position: they are 4–6 years old rather than 8–12, and genuine cells are more reliably available.

Older Satellite models (PA3817U-1BRS) — what to expect with 10-plus year laptops

The PA3817U-1BRS fits pre-2013 Toshiba Satellites — the L755, C655, and several other variants from the 2010–2013 era. These machines are 12–14 years old. That is a long time in laptop years, and the battery situation reflects it.

Genuine Toshiba PA3817U cells are largely out of production. What exists in the market is a mix of old-new-stock (original cells that were stored) and branded replacements from suppliers such as Mitsu and Green Cell, which use compatible lithium cells but are not manufactured by Toshiba or its original cell suppliers. Quality varies significantly between suppliers.
