Your Asus TUF installed an update last night, and now it starts, shows the logo, restarts, and does it again. You have exams or work waiting, and you are unsure whether to call someone to your door or carry the laptop to a service centre. This post explains what a boot loop (a laptop that restarts before it reaches the desktop) can mean, what each route offers, what to protect first, and a simple rule for choosing.
What is the quickest way to decide?
Short answer: if the TUF is within warranty, begin with Asus and ask what the claim will cover. If it is out of warranty, or you cannot be without the laptop for days, ask for an assessment that tests the drive first and says in writing whether a Windows repair is enough. Whichever route you choose, find out how your files will be handled before the laptop leaves your hands.
What is a boot loop, and what causes it?
A boot loop means the laptop begins to start, then fails and restarts before reaching your desktop. After an update, the cause can be a damaged Windows file, a driver (the small program that lets Windows talk to a part) that does not suit the update, or a setting in the BIOS (the basic start-up program stored on the board). It can also come from a drive (the storage inside the laptop) that has started to fail, or from a board or memory problem.
These causes look the same on screen, but they need very different handling. A software cause can often be corrected without replacing a part. A failing drive can lose files, and every extra restart can make recovery harder. Our guide to a laptop boot loop explains the basic checks.
What does the Asus route offer?
Asus's India support page lists onsite service, where an Asus technician visits your location for diagnosis and repair, and says you can request it through its RMA portal or the consumer support line. It also describes a Premium Care On-Site Service pack, which is a paid add-on, with response times that may vary by location and spare parts. Whether onsite service applies to your TUF, and whether carry-in is the route for your case, depends on your plan and your city, so confirm on Asus's page. You can read the wording yourself at Asus's India service FAQ, which was checked on 19 October 2026 and may change.
The same page asks you to take a data backup before taking any service. Asus's global warranty terms also say that if the product is repaired, user data may be permanently deleted, so check the terms for your own unit. That is a plain reason to protect your files first. Ask whichever route you choose what happens to the drive.
What can an independent repair do at your door?
Laptop Repair World has served since 2007 from one store at MG Road, Secunderabad, and offers doorstep service across Hyderabad. Outside Hyderabad, we accept laptops by courier from anywhere in India. For a TUF boot loop, our Asus boot loop repair work starts with an assessment: we test whether the drive is healthy, look at the start-up error and tell you whether a Windows repair is likely to be enough. A written quotation lists parts, labour, GST and the visit fee before work begins. If testing finds another fault, we send a revised quotation for your approval before any further paid work.
When we collect a laptop, we record its condition, serial number and accessories. After the work, we show you the repaired function and give a short written record. A 30-day repair warranty applies, subject to its terms. For a doorstep visit, there is a ₹149 doorstep visit fee, waived when you approve laptop repair with us. No Fix No Fee covers the repair charge, while the visit fee is waived only when you approve the repair.
How do the two routes compare?
What does a typical case look like?
For example, a student's TUF installs a big Windows update overnight and then loops at the logo. Two hard restarts bring up a blue recovery screen. A typical assessment tests the drive first. If the drive is healthy, a Windows repair or a driver rollback may bring the laptop back with files untouched. If the drive reports errors, the priority changes from fixing Windows to saving files. This is an illustration, not a record of a real job.
How do power cuts and heat in India raise the risk?
A power cut during an update can cut off the laptop halfway through writing system files, and that can start a boot loop. Heat inside a gaming laptop in a warm room can also stress the drive. Keep the charger connected before starting an update, and use a UPS (a small battery unit that keeps power steady) if cuts are frequent in your area. Never switch the laptop off by holding the power button during an update unless the screen has been frozen for a very long time. Our backup guide lists simple ways to protect your files.
When is Asus the better route, and when is an independent repair?
- Use Asus first if the TUF is in warranty, or if you hold a Premium Care plan that covers service.
- Consider an independent repair when the warranty has ended, when you want the laptop assessed without carrying it, or when you want the drive tested and a quote in writing before work.
- Whichever you choose, back up first if the laptop still allows it.

When to get help
- The restart loop continues after two or three attempts.
- You see a message about the drive, a missing operating system or a recovery screen that fails.
- Your files are not backed up and the laptop will not start.
- The laptop becomes very hot or the fan runs loudly during the loop.

A note from the LRW Engineer Team
If the TUF reaches a menu, use it to look for a safe mode or recovery option, but stop after two or three attempts. If you can start it even once, copy your important files to an external drive before trying anything else. A single backup made now is worth more than any later repair.
