Picture a student or a home-office worker whose Asus laptop has grown loud and hot over the last year. The fan roars, the keyboard area is warm, and sometimes the screen goes black. Is this just dust, or is it something bigger? This post explains what each fault usually looks like, what the Asus service route offers, what an independent repair can check, and how to choose without paying for work you may not need.
Should you clean it first or go to Asus first?
Short answer: If your Asus is still under warranty, or you hold an active Asus Premium Care pack, use that route first. If it is out of warranty and old, a cleaning and a temperature test under load is a sensible first step. If the heat stays after cleaning, ask for a revised written quotation before agreeing to any larger repair.
What does the Asus route offer?
Asus states that its laptop service centres repair both in-warranty and out-of-warranty devices. For an out-of-warranty laptop, Asus says the charges are communicated after the fault has been diagnosed. So you cannot know the cost until the technician has looked at the machine. Asus also says that a device that is out of warranty, or has physical damage or water contact, is serviced on a chargeable basis, plus replacement parts. You can read this on Asus India's support FAQ.
For the exact process, charges and time for your model, ask Asus or check its current support page. Keep your invoice and serial number handy, because warranty status decides whether the repair is charged. More on the two routes is in our Asus service centre vs independent repair guide.
What can Laptop Repair World check for heat?
Laptop Repair World is an independent repair shop, founded in 2007, with one store at MG Road, Secunderabad. We are not an Asus service centre and have no tie-up with Asus. For a hot laptop we can inspect the accessible area, clean it, test temperatures while the laptop works hard, and quote any fan or cooling repair in writing before work begins. Our page on Asus overheating repair lists the usual jobs.
- A written quotation listing parts, labour, GST and the visit fee before any work.
- Each part named as original, compatible or refurbished, with its own warranty.
- If testing finds another fault, a revised quotation is approved before any further paid work.
- A handover test, so the repaired function is shown to you, with a short written record of the work.
Complimentary cleaning of the accessible area comes with eligible repairs. Internal cleaning, thermal paste service and liquid-damage treatment are separate work and are quoted separately.
Cleaning, cooling repair or bigger fault: how to tell
These are general signs, not a diagnosis. The same sign can come from more than one cause.
A burning smell, swelling under the keyboard or a very hot charger is not a cleaning job. Switch the laptop off, unplug it and get it checked before using it again.
Heat, dust and power cuts in Indian homes and offices
In many Indian summers, rooms get very warm, and dust enters through windows and doors. A laptop used on a bed or a cushion also blocks its own air intake. Voltage swings and power cuts can stress the charger and battery, which then run warmer than normal. Use a hard, flat surface, keep vents clear, and use a stable power source. Our post on Asus ROG and TUF thermal service goes deeper on gaming models.
A typical case (an illustration, not a real customer)
Take an Asus VivoBook that is four years old. Over six months the fan becomes loud and the laptop slows during video calls. It is out of warranty. The owner chooses a cleaning and temperature test first. If the technician finds the fan is clogged, cleaning may be enough. If the temperature is still high under load, the technician reports it, and a revised quotation for a fan or thermal paste job is approved before more paid work. If the laptop still shuts down, the board or power circuit gets looked at. The outcome depends on the machine.

When to get help
- The laptop shuts down on its own while it is hot.
- The fan is loud even when you only browse.
- The keyboard area or base is too hot to touch.
- Cleaning did not bring the temperature down.
Book an inspection through Asus overheating repair. For a doorstep visit, there is a ₹149 doorstep visit fee, waived when you approve laptop repair with us. A note from the LRW Engineer Team
Before any visit, back up your important files and note when the heat started. Tell the technician what you were doing at the time, such as gaming or video calls. That small detail helps the technician and lets you compare two quotations on the same facts.
