VAIO Pro screens (13.3” Full HD IPS, some with touch overlay on SVP132) are premium displays with a specific failure mode: the touch digitizer on SVP touch variants develops delamination at the edges over years, producing ghost touch inputs or unresponsive zones near the bezel. Non-touch SVP panels fail via the screen ribbon cable (hinge-fold fracture) or backlight driver failure. The SVP13’s ultra-slim hinge leaves even less cable slack than the VAIO Z, making hinge-fold ribbon fracture the single most common SVP display complaint. A cracked SVP13 panel is expensive to address given the scarcity of replacement panels for this 2013–2014 model.
We start with an external monitor test to rule out the GPU path. SVP screen cable inspection at the hinge fold is performed under magnification — a fractured cable is the most cost-effective fix. Touch digitizer delamination on SVP touch models is assessed for extent before quoting replacement (minor edge delamination vs. full-panel replacement have different cost profiles).
