Tecra business laptops accumulate dust differently from consumer models — office environments with carpeting and air conditioning produce fine particulate that infiltrates the fan intake over years, building a dense mat in the fin stack. The Tecra’s single-exhaust vent design concentrates all airflow through one path; partial blockage creates an immediate thermal impact. At 8–10 years of age, the fan bearing is also reaching the end of its service life. Toshiba’s Tempro utility logged thermal events on Windows installations, but on machines that were reimaged for enterprise use, Tempro may not be installed — meaning thermal stress goes unlogged until the machine throttles or shuts down mid-meeting.
