Chip-level repair · 1–3 day turnaround
Component-level laptop board repair — we replace the faulty IC, capacitor, or power section instead of swapping the whole board. BGA rework, micro-soldering, schematic-driven diagnosis. ₹4,000 onwards · saves 50–70% vs authorised quote.
Eight motherboard symptoms we diagnose every week. Almost every one is a chip-level repair (component-level — fixing the failed individual part on the board, not replacing the whole motherboard) fix, not a full-board write-off.
Charger LED on, laptop completely dead. Power-section MOSFET, charging IC, or EC chip failure.
Fan spins, keyboard lights up, screen stays black. GPU, BIOS, or display-circuit IC fault.
Logo shows, then shutdown, then logo again. RAM controller, voltage regulator, or BIOS corruption.
Blue screen of death every few hours. Memory controller, voltage instability, or capacitor degradation.
Spilled coffee / water / juice on keyboard. Corrosion eating board traces. Time-critical — first 60 minutes matter.
Visible capacitor swelling on the board (older models). Replace before they short and damage neighbouring chips.
One row of USB stopped working, or the headphone jack is silent. Specific controller IC failure — chip-level fix.
Boots up, runs hot, lasts only 5 minutes. Could be cooling-related (cleanable) or a thermal-runaway component (board-level).
A laptop motherboard is a six-to-twelve layer fibreglass-and-copper sandwich populated with hundreds of components: the CPU, GPU (or integrated graphics), memory controller, charging IC, embedded controller, BIOS chip, voltage regulators, hundreds of capacitors and resistors, and dozens of power-supply MOSFETs. When something on this board fails, the laptop misbehaves — it won’t power on, it powers on but won’t display, it boot-loops, USB ports go dead, audio stops working. The instinct of authorised service centres is to replace the entire board, often quoting ₹15,000 to ₹30,000+ for what they call a “motherboard issue.”
This is rarely the right answer, and we’ll explain why. Modern laptop boards fail in component-specific patterns, not in random board-wide death. The most common failures we diagnose are: a single charging IC shorted by a power surge or liquid spill (replace one chip, ₹4,000–₹8,000); a power-section MOSFET that’s developed a short to ground (₹4,000–₹6,500); a capacitor that’s failed open or short, especially around the GPU’s voltage regulators (₹4,000–₹5,500); or an embedded controller (EC) chip with corrupted firmware after a botched BIOS update (often a re-flash, sometimes a chip swap).
The work that authorised centres can’t economically do is schematic-driven, component-level diagnosis. We obtain the board’s schematic, trace power rails with a multimeter or thermal camera to locate the shorted component, and replace just that part using BGA rework (for ball-grid-array packages like the chipset or GPU) or micro-soldering (for surface-mount components). This requires an actual workshop with a hot-air rework station, microscope, oscilloscope, and a stocked drawer of common laptop ICs — not the swap-and-bill model that drives manufacturer service centres.
Liquid damage is the case that most rewards careful chip-level work. After a spill, corrosion typically affects only the components nearest the entry point. Ultrasonic cleaning removes the residue, and component-level inspection identifies which ICs have failed. We’ve recovered MacBooks, Dells, and HPs that authorised centres declared write-offs — sometimes for a fraction of their refurb-replacement quote.
When chip-level isn’t viable — major short across multiple critical rails, BGA chip beyond economic re-balling, or a discontinued board where parts can’t be sourced — we say so. A full-board swap is the right call sometimes, and we quote it honestly with stocked-replacement availability. The 30% of boards that need a swap, get one. The 70% that don’t, save you most of the money.

What customers ask before sending us a board for chip-level diagnosis.
Motherboard faults are rarely isolated. These are the services we routinely combine with chip-level board repair.
Most non-power-related board faults trace back to a past liquid spill. Ultrasonic clean before any component-level repair.
A drop or impact can fracture solder joints or crack the BGA chip. We assess physical damage before quoting board work.
No display with the board powering on usually means GPU, eDP, or panel issue. We diagnose all three at one visit.
The charging board is part of motherboard repair. DC jack failure often blows the upstream charging IC.
Random freezes can be a failing chipset capacitor, not just software. Component-level diagnosis included.
If the board is dead but the SSD is intact, we recover files before any board work, no matter the eventual repair outcome.
